VANCOUVER – February 14th is British Columbia Day at the Olympic Winter Games, and the Province is planning a series of special events for families and friends to celebrate.
“The opening ceremonies of the XXI Winter Olympic Games showed the world the great things we’re capable of here in British Columbia,” said Premier Gordon Campbell. “Tomorrow we’ll have another special opportunity to share the spirit and culture of our province with visitors from around the world.”
The Robson Square celebration site in downtown Vancouver will be the centrepiece for B.C. Day activities. The province will also be the focus of the Victory Ceremony at BC Place on Sunday evening with special programming featuring the culture and energy of British Columbia. More celebrations will be held in Whistler.
“Our Robson Square celebration site is already incredibly popular with the thousands of people who come out each day to skate, ride the zipline and watch our pyrotechnic show,” said Mary McNeil, Minister of State for the Olympics and ActNow BC. “On B.C. Day at the Olympic Winter Games, we’re putting out a special invitation to our visitors and all British Columbians to share in our spirit.”
